Methionine adenosyltransferase 2A catalyzes the production of S-adenosylmethionine (AdoMet) from methionine and ATP. AdoMet is the key methyl donor in cellular processes.MAT2A gene contains 9 exons. Its promoter region contains a CpG island that partly overlaps the PARTICLE gene on the opposite strand.
